CPTU Services
As your official trials unit, the CPTU can provide comprehensive oversight and input into all key trial activities:
The CPTU typically offers full portfolio adoption, where we act as the primary trials unit. In some case, where there's alignment with out strategic priorities, select services may also be available.
Fully adopted portfolio trials benefit from a dedicated trial management group (TMG), Trial Steering Group (TSC) and, where needed, a Data Monitoring Committee (DMC). A senior CPTU representative, typically either the Director, Head of Operations or Head of Trial Management, attends these committees.
Our procedures and clear escalation pathways ensure senior members of the CPTU core team retain oversight of trial specific activities, including trial set-up and recruitment progress, pharmacovigilance, protocol non-compliances, reporting and trial closure and archiving.
If you'd like to collaborate with us, please see below for how to adoption process works.
New research proposals undergo review and approval by two independent committees before adoption and submission for funding.
Send us an email (cptu-enquiries@qmul.ac.uk) to informally express your interest and set up a meeting.
If the proposal is in alignment with the CPTU's priorities, you will be encouraged to formally express your interest.
Complete a CPTU Collaboration request proforma to indicate formally which services you require. An EDI & PPI Assessment will also be completed.
Upon completion, a member of the CPTU will be made available to support working up your proposal.
Chaired by the CPTU Director, the Scientific Committee will review for scientific excellence and how the research complements and supports the unit’s strategic direction.
Studies should meet the following criteria:
Chaired by the CPTU Head of Operations, the Resource Committee reviews relevant operational aspects to confirm feasibility and whether the resources being requested are adequate.
For example:
A provision letter for adoption will follow at which point the CPTU can be named in the funding application as the clinical trials unit responsible. Formal adoption will follow once funding for the project has been approved.
